Merrill Goldenberg, Ph.D.Founder and President
Merrill Goldenberg, Ph.D., has over 30 years of industrial biopharma experience, including 22 years at Amgen, where his last position was Scientific Director, Formulation and Analytical Resources, in the Process and Product Development Department. While at Amgen he applied his broad scientific knowledge across many areas, including sustained and controlled drug release, formulation of proteins/antibodies, high concentration/peptides, organic/polymer chemistry of PEGylation, and rheology. His group’s efforts led to one of Amgen’s key products– Neulasta. He also designed, and in some cases conducted, animal-related experiments across a number of species. He was considered an established thought leader and acted as an in-house consultant for many departments, including Clinical Development, Process and Product Development, Drug Delivery (devices), and Biologics Optimization. He also evaluated external drug delivery technologies as potential investments for Amgen.

Prior to Amgen, he was a Research Fellow for Ciba-Geigy (now Novartis) in its Central Research Department, where he worked on drug delivery, biomaterials and surface modification programs. One of these programs led to a marketed product. He holds approximately 20 granted U.S. patents and is the author of numerous publications. He received his Ph.D. in organic and polymer chemistry from Polytechnic Institute of New York (now Polytechnic Institute of New York University) and completed a postdoctoral program in chemistry and biophysical chemistry at Columbia University.
